Збагачення лексичного запасу шляхом використання інтерактивних вправ  

Майстер - клас

 «Без граматики можна сказати дуже мало, без лексики – нічого». Ці слова лінгвіста Девіза Уілкінса найкраще відображають важливість навчання лексичного матеріалу.
Найкраще інформація запам’ятовується в контексті, наприклад, під час читання слова має зустрітись щонайменше сім разів за обмежений відрізок часу.
Популярний вислів характеризує цей вислів: «Use it or lose it!» Це використання слів у мовленні.
Нові слова швидше переходять до довготривалої пам’яті, якщо учні тренують їх у контексті власної особистості, особливо особистого життєвого досвіду та на прикладах, що є невід’ємною часткою їх особистого оточення.

 Mnemonics

These are special techniques that help remember the words that are hard to memorize. For example to remember the names of the Great Lakes the students are to keep in mind the word: Homes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior);  or the word Arithmetica rat in the house may eat the ice cream.

Roundtable (group work) – робота по колу

По колу передається аркуш і кожен учень  групи записує по одному слову за певною темою, наприклад «Weekend Activites». Час – до 2 хвилин. Яка група встигла записати більше слів, та й зачитує їх першою. Вчитель швидко записує ці слова на дошці, а решта учнів викреслюють названі слова зі своїх списків та називають ті, що залишились

Хто більше? (Group work)

Учні одержують малюнок за темою, що вивчається. За 1 хвилину треба назвати як можна більше слів, які асоціюються з ним і відповідають темі.

A long sentence

Придумати речення з новими словами за темою, що вивчається. На дошці записує своє речення той, у кого воно найдовше.

The Alphabet Game

Students  work in pairs with a set of cut out alphabets folded where student A will have to pick an alphabet followed by student B finding a word which starts with the alphabet picked by student A. The third step is completed by student A by making a sentence that uses at least five words including the word which has been selected by student B.

Example:

Student A has picked the alphabet ‘G’
Student B uses the ‘G’ alphabet in the word GLOBAL.
Student A completes the round by making the sentence: The global warming has been raising many serious environmental discussions lately.

Spy Alternative

Start by saying, “I see something …” and describe the color, shape, and location of an object in the room. The student who guesses then chooses another object and the class guesses again.

Reading the text remember

Dictations

Замість  традиційного диктанта можно використовувати гру на  spelling:
1.     Напишить буквосполучення sh, skate, ch, a, wh, th, w, учні пишуть слова з цими сполученнями.
2.     Напишить букви , наприклад: s, k, t, ... учні пишуть слова, які починаються з цих букв.
3.     Після читання або прослуховування тексту учні отримують завдання написати слова , які вони запам’ятали з тексту, за виключенням  слів типу and, but, I, he и т.п.
4.     Під час вивчення теми можна дати завдання Хто купить більш продуктів (Food),хто відвідає більш місць (City).

Bankrupt

This a great warmer  to recycle any vocabulary or grammar structures
Collect the vocabulary flashcards you aim to revise, and stick behind them cards showing an amount of money, like Us$500, Us$ 100 and so on. One or two of them should say BANKRUPT and another DONATION. Stick the flashcards on the board. Be careful students don't see money cards. Divide the class into two groups. Students take turns to choose one of the flashcards, say the item on them, or a sentence using that word, as you prefer. If they say it right they gain the amount of money at the back. If it says Bankrupt, you erase the money they had won, and if it says Donation, that team donates all their money to the other group.

Activate the Vocabulary

Flashcards

1.Flash

Show each flash card to the children in turn very quickly, turning it round. “flashing”, Children look and guess what it is. Re-cast and introduce the word as appropriate.

2. Slowly, slowly!

Cover the picture on the flash card and move the cover slowly, let the kids guess what it is.

3. Magic eyes.

Stick a set of no more than 6 cards on the blackboard. Let the students repeat the words two-three times. Then remove the cards one by one. Point to the place where the card was , the kids name the card as if it is still there.

Vocabulary\speaking practice.

1.Two-card sentence

The students pick up two cards in random order and try to unite the pictures on them in a sentence.

2.Heads and Feet

Collect full length pictures from a clothes catalogue. Cut off the heads and mount them on small cards. Cut off the legs (feet\shoes) and do the same.  Give a collection of cards to a group of students. Ask them to try to match the heads and feet and explain the matches they have made.

e.g. He is wearing a rain hat so I think he’s wearing rain shoes. She is wearing diamond earrings so I am sure she is wearing smart shoes.

Using dictation

1.Beep dictations

-vocabulary

Read a sentence. Instead of saying the word, say ’beep’. The students write the whole sentence.

-grammar points

Beep dictations can be good to practice specific grammar points(prepositions, verbs, etc.)
